3 Easy Ways You Can Use Your Church Website to Connect with Guests

Do you want to hear guests tell you that they heard about your church and decided to attend because of your website? We ask every new ChurchSpring user what their number one desired outcome is for their website and we hear over and over “I want to grow my church” and “I want to reach my community”.

Your website is a powerful tool to invite guests to your church and remove any anxiety your guests may experience that prevents them from attending. If you want to learn how you can harness your church website to grow your church, keep reading or click to watch the video above to watch the show.

#1: Use the Plan Your Visit Feature

The Plan Your Visit feature is a page or preferably a popup on your church website that has a contact form to capture your guests’ information and guides your guests to know what to expect when they arrive at your church. The Plan Your Visit contact form should include the guest’s name, email address, and phone number so that you can follow up with your guest before they arrive to your service. If you have multiple services, have the guest select which service they want to attend so that you can give them any specific details to that service.

The Plan Your Visit popup is a direct call to action to your guests to take action and start a relationship with your church! Have a plan of action when a guest submits their information. Delegate your pastor or a volunteer to follow up with the guest and give them a call to welcome them to your church and communication any important information.

#2: Update Your What to Expect Page

Do your guests know exactly what to expect when they attend your church? Alleviate any stress or anxiety by laying out a clear roadmap of what a guest can expect from the moment they park. Your What to Expect website page should include important information that guests need to know such as child care, what to wear, a link to your core beliefs, and even parking information. Your What to Expect page is a great opportunity to give a glimpse into your church’s culture and beliefs! Link to past sermons, worship sets, or your church calendar.

Bonus tip: Ask your new members what they wished they had known before attending your service so you can update your What to Expect page to meet your guests’ specific needs!

#3: Update your Church Events Website Page

Guests want to see that your church is alive and active! Your events, or church calendar, page is the digital version of that hallway bulletin board and it should be updated with upcoming events. It gives a glimpse into your church’s culture and highlights that your church has opportunities for guests. If your church reaches a specific demographic, such as college students, be sure to add upcoming events to highlight these opportunities.

Not sure which events to add to your church calendar page? Start by adding your Sunday service events! You can include upcoming mission trips, small groups, picnics, etc. Don’t forget to remove any outdated event postings on your website—expired events may communicate to the guest that your church is out of date.

Fun fact: A ChurchSpring-powered website automatically removes any previous events so you can save time with your church calendar management!

Take action!

Ready to optimize your church website to connect with your guests? Activate your Plan Your Visit feature on your church website to capture your guests’ information so you can welcome them to your church!

If your website provider doesn’t have a Plan Your Visit feature, simply create a contact form on your What to Expect page so you can encourage your guests to submit their information so you can give them a warm welcome!
